Darker Half is a band from Sydney playing melodic power and traditional metal with a technical aspect. The band formed around Vo Simpson, Max Griffiths (vocals, bass), Nick Alderton (guitar) and Jim Bridgeman on drums. They quickly began playing live despite being all too young to appear in licensed venues and featured at the first Metalstock festival at Easter 2005. Simon Hamilton (bass) and Benito Martino (drums) joined the band toward the end of 2005 and the group recorded a four-track EP while continuing to make their presence felt on the live circuit on the east coast throughout 2006. In 2008 Nick parted ways with the band and Dom Simpson joined on guitar. The band was announced as the opening act on a tour by UFO, but the tour was cancelled before tickets even went on sale. Meanwhile, the band spent the last part of 2008 completing their full-length album Duality which was released in early 2009 and supported by a national tour that featured gigs with bands like The Eternal and Universum.
