Band Information

Perhaps the earliest and undoubtedly one of the most legendary of Australia's extreme metal contingent, Slaughter Lord was an early Sydney thrash band whose status during the formative period of the country's metal scene was only rivalled by Mortal Sin.

The band was formed by Hughes and quickly built up a solid reputation that was founded on strong, unrelenting live sets and a series of best-selling demos. After a handful of formative gigs that virtually introduced Australian audiences to extreme metal in the mid-80s and changed the scene forever, the line-up consolidated when Vazquez replaced original guitarist Sandy Vahdanni (who would later join Sadistik Exekution) and Noel took up the vocal responsibilities. Unfortunately Slaughter Lord was never able to solidify their stature with an established recording and after Burke split to join Mortal Sin it wasn't long before the band was no more. Hughes replaced Wayne Campbell in Mortal Sin in late 1989 and later went on to join Presto and Nazxul. When he moved to Ireland in 1999, Hughes found interest for Slaughter Lord's recordings from Invictus, who released the Thrash til Death album in 2000.
