Aeon of Horus is a death metal band from Canberra with a progressive and melodic bent, bearing some similarities to Necrophagist. The group was formed in 2006 with Annand coming from Darkim and Feeney and Hocking formerly of the deathgrind band Shigella. An EP surfaced in mid-2007 and since the band has developed a fearsome reputation. In November 2008 the album The Embodiment of Darkness and Light was released and in December the band supported Psycroptic on part of their national tour. The album received consistently strong reviews and Aeon of Horus opened for Satyricon in Melbourne in March 2009. After appearing at Progfest shows in Sydney and Canberra during May, it was announced in July than Barry Feeney had departed; the band is currently seeking a replacement.
