Band information
Christ Art Museum was an excellent Sydney sludge band orginally formed from the ashes of The Damn Nation when former Savage Heart vocalist Smith joined in place of Abi Tucker. After a short time former Would Goblins bass player Klein replaced Lanz and Green (ex-Mantissa) took over from drummer Skumpta.
Christ Art Museum's first EP was a striking volume with similarities to Alice in Chains. In several years of touring the band supported Creed and the Deftones and notable local artists such as Horsehead, Nitocris and Superheist. Lanz rejoined the band in 1997 but left again after the recording of “New Boy”. Christ Art Museum replaced him with Martin Carr but split shortly afterwards, with Green joining iOTA's live band and Smith forming Bobsledge. Smith, Carr and Green were also concurrently involved in another band called Guilding the Lily.
