Band information

D9 started in 1998 as a six-piece band. Playing their first gig in Wynnum where most of the band was from... 4178.

Over the next couple of years D9 got working and playing with some other brisbane bands. Playing gigs at the Railway Hotel and later the Gabba Hotel with mostly punk bands. At this time the ‘Circles’ EP was recorded at Modern Music with Dave Leonard.

A couple of member changes and a member addition in 2001 made D9 then a seven-piece band. Drums, bass, two guitars, two vocals, samples. After an east coast tour the lads entered the studio to record their full-length album ‘High Binder’ which was official released on Ward 69 Records in early 2003.

D9 toured through Canberra and Sydney, scored a Metal for the Brain slot, supported Strapping Young Lad and later played in Adelaide. D9 has also played on all the Overcranked festivals - while the band was together. D9 called it a day in May 2005.

After almost 3 years, the band played a reunion gig at Infernofest in March 2008. The band was well accepted at the gig. Playing a short set of entirely old songs, most were from 'High Binder' with a couple of newer ones thrown in. The gig was played as a seven-piece, the same line-up as when we split in 2005.

In April 2008, the band decided to continue as a five-piece. D9 has been chipping away at new songs since then, all the while making time to play a handful of shows sharing the stage with Segression, Dreamkillers, Hollow, The Dead, Silver Ocean Storm and playing a top slot at Infernofest 1,2 & 3 and Dead Of Winter ’09 and ‘10.

2011 has seen D9 enter Blackbox Studios with Matt Taylor for the immortalisation of new songs. The later half of 2011 will see these songs released on the ‘Nothing Is Real Now’ EP.
