History

Overcranked was a Brisbane festival featuring primarily metal and punk bands from Australia and overseas, established by Kent Haines from Hollow and Anthony Palmer of Post Life Disorder. The event began as a modest local metal/hardcore festival featuring local underground acts but soon became a large scale event featuring prominent Australian and international touring bands, performance art and skateboard demos. The focus later shifted toward punk and hardcore although metal bands still featured in the line-ups. Overcranked was usually held in late March, although for the first couple of years it was in July. The event was not held in 2005 but returned the following year when the headline act was Clutch. Frenzal Rhomb was booked for the 2007 event but cancelled. Applications from bands were being taken for the 2008 event but an announcement was later made that the event would not take place until 2009, however the festival had never been held again.
