D9 started in 1998 as a six-piece band, playing their first gig in Wynnum. Over the next couple of years, D9 carved their niche in the Brisbane metal and punk scene, occasionally getting banned from venues due to their destructive behaviour. After line-up changes in 2001, D9 became a seven-piece band. It was this line-up that entered the studio to record their debut full-length album High Binder, released on Ward 69 Records in early 2003. Shows in Canberra, Sydney and Adelaide followed. Later highlights included supporting Strapping Young Lad and slots on Overcranked and Metal for the Brain.
Over the next couple of years d-nine got working and playing with some other brisbane bands. Playing gigs at the Railway Hotel and later the Gabba Hotel with mostly punk bands.

A couple of member changes and a Member addition in 2001 made D-NINE then a seven-piece band. Drums, bass, two guitars, two vocals, samples. This is also the year that debut album "High Binder" was recorded.
In May 2005, D9 called it a day, but not for long. In March 2008, the band hit the stage for a reunion gig at Infernofest. Continuing as a five-piece, D9 has since shared the stage with bands such as Frankenbok, Segression and Dreamkillers among others. They have also played top slots at Infernofest 1, 2 and 3 and Dead of Winter Festival in 2009 and 2010.

Following the release of High Binder on Ward 69 Records, d-nine toured through Canberra and Sydney, scored a Metal for the Brain slot, supported Strapping Young Lad and later played in Adelaide. D-nine has also played on all the Overcranked festivals - while the band was together.
In 2011, D9 entered Blackbox Studios with Matt Taylor to record the EP, "Nothing is Real Now".
