Band Information

Vespers Descent is a melodic death metal band from Perth that was formed by one time Sámain and Pathogen drummer Boeijen from the ashes of his solo project Syntony. The band supported Mayhem in 2002 and Opeth in early 2003 and issued an EP in May 2003 that met with wide acclaim. Over joined Vespers Descent in July 2003 to shore up the guitar attack but then bass player Andrew Doepel left shortly after the release of "Three Faces of Eve". He was replaced by Sandstrom of Pathogen. In June 2004, Vespers Descent supported Exhumed and toured nationally with Hate Eternal in June, 2005. In November of that year, the band's debut album Visions in Verse was released.

Vespers Descent then went through a period of flux with virtually the entire line-up having changed; Mazzarol from Noctis and several others bands replaced Boeijen who was now with Voyager. Richard Clements replaced Jack Wolski and Sandstrom was replaced by Adam Fitzgerald. In early 2008, "Reality Dysfunction" was released and later that year the band opened for Children of Bodom. Shannon Over departed from the band in mid-2010 and was replaced by Drew Shepherd from Fractious. Vespers Descent released Fragments of the Forgotten in 2011. The band played its final show on April 20, 2012.
