Band information
As Silence Breaks is a Sydney-based death/metalcore band, formed in 2005. After several years of solid gigging including two consecutive tours with the Taste of Chaos festival, the band linked up with New Justice and released a self-titled album in early 2010. Shows with The Red Shore and Whitechapel followed. Early in 2011 they toured with Darkest Hour and Carnifex and mid-year opened the Periphery/TesseracT double bill in Sydney, releasing a new EP at the same time. As Silence Breaks toured through the US late in 2011, recording in San Diego while there. On returning to Australia they opened for Arch Enemy in Sydney. Heavy local and national gigging followed including shows with Mnemic and Sybreed and the band appeared on the Bastardfest bill in late 2012. In early 2013 the band opened a Boys of Summer tour show (featuring Deez Nuts, Comeback Kid and Hand of Mercy) in Canberra. Following that, Reece Kirby and Benji Irwin departed; scene veteran Andrew Lilley replaced Irwin and Kirby was replaced by Nathan Crofts. The band was invited to appear at Croatia's Burning Sea festival but the event was later cancelled. In mid-2013 As Silence Breaks toured Japan with The Crown and Gorod with new guitarist Simon Tattam; late that year they opened for I Killed the Prom Queen. After completing work on their second album, As Silence Breaks played their final show under that name on May 25, 2014. The band is now called Daemon Pyre.
