Band information

As Silence Breaks is a Sydney-based death/metalcore band, formed in 2005. After several years of solid gigging including two consecutive tours with the Taste of Chaos festival, the band linked up with New Justice and released a self-titled album in early 2010. Shows with The Red Shore and Whitechapel followed. Early in 2011 they toured with Darkest Hour and Carnifex and mid-year opened the Periphery/TesseracT double bill in Sydney, releasing a new EP at the same time. As Silence Breaks toured through the US late in 2011, recording in San Diego while there. On returning to Australia they opened for Arch Enemy in Sydney. Heavy local and national gigging followed including shows with Mnemic and Sybreed and the band appeared on the Bastardfest bill in late 2012. Following that, Reece Kirby and Benji Irwin departed; scene veteran Andrew Lilley replaced Irwin and Kirby was replaced by Nathan Crofts. In mid-2013 the band toured Japan with The Crown and Gorod.
