Band Information
Formed from the remnants of Devoid by Felton, Kruit and Simon Mitchell, Chaos Divine is a Perth band playing a catchy and well-constructed blend of modern metal stylings featuring alternating harsh/clean vocals, polyrhythmic drumming and solid guitar work. During 2006, the band completed work on its debut CD while playing supports with Fear Factory, Devil Driver and Dark Tranquillity. After the release of the CD, drummer Ben Mazzarol was replaced by Chris Mitchell. Late in the year, "Ratio" won second place in the annual Three Hours of Power listener's poll for Best Australian Metal Release.
I Exist is a band from Canberra playing a mixture of hardcore and bottom-heavy sludge. Originally formed in 2008, the band issued a self-released EP the following year before linking up with Resist Records for the full-length follow-up in 2010. Pod People guitarist Josh Nixon joined the band after this as I Exist developed a massive triple-guitar assault with stylistic similarities to bands like Eyehategod and Iron Monkey. 2011 was the group's busiest year, with their excellent second album released just ahead of a national tour with Doomriders in July and appearances at most of the mainland Bastardfests in September/October. 2012 saw the band appear at the Canberra leg of the Groovin' the Moo festival and play a run of shows with Frenzal Rhomb before again lining up as part of Bastardfest in the last quarter of the year. After a European tour in mid-2013, I Exist supported Every Time I Die at two shows on their Australian tour. The band has signed a worldwide deal (excluding Australia) with Prosthetic for the release of their third album From Darkness.
Chaos Divine began 2007 with a support to Trivium, followed in April by a Perth show with Slayer and Mastodon. The band began recording their full length album Avalon in Melbourne in February 2008; it was released on September 12. Mazzarol rejoined the band in the meantime. The album went on to win the West Australian Music Industry’s 2008 Song of the Year Award in the Heavy Rock/Metal category with the track "Refuse The Sickness". Chaos Divine was also among the top-five finalists nominated for the Metal/Hardcore award at the National MusicOz Awards. The album was also voted in the top 10 international metal albums of the year by Triple J and in early 2009, the band played the Perth leg of the Big Day Out. Chaos Divine was also nominated for the 2009 West Australian Music Industry award for best hard rock/metal act.

In October 2009 Chaos Divine played the 2009 Progpower Europe festival and some other shows in Belgium. At the Australia Metal Awards the following month, the band won five awards including Best Vocalist, Best Album (for Avalon), Song of the Year (for "Refuse the Sickness") and Best Overall Band. Most of 2010 was spent working on the follow-up to Avalon, The Human Connection, which was released late March 2011. Later in 2011, Chaos Divine appeared at Bastardfests in Sydney and Perth.
