Band Information

Formed in Perth in 2003 as a duo of ex-Centaur and Pathogen vocalist Cain Cressal and Jarrod Curley on guitar, Malignant Monster played aggressive death and thrash metal. The band’s live line-up was completed in late 2005 with the addition of Aidan Barton from Pathogen, Stanley from Centaur and Dave Elzer and after the release of the album, most of which was recorded by the original duo of Cressal and Curley. Elzer left the band in early 2007 and was replaced by Shaun Dee, and Malignant Monster supported God Forbid in March. After this they opened for Marduk, The Black Dahlia Murder, Cryptopsy, Morbid Angel, Grave and more. Lynton Cessford (The Alchemont, Gallows for Grace) replaced Barton during 2008. Cain Cressal joined The Amenta in 2009. Malignant Monster supported Mayhem and Exodus in late 2010. During 2011 they appeared at Bastardfest. Louis Rando of Impiety, The Furor and several other bands joined Malignant Monster in 2012; the 'Prelude to Murder' EP was released late in the year. 2013 saw the release of the long-delayed second album and in November Malignant Monster supported Enslaved. After this activity from the band decreased at Malignant Monster played their last in Perth on February 23, 2016.
