Band Information
Relentless and mayhemic American-style death metal hell issued from this Adelaide band whose strange name is that of a Japanese demon. Oni was another band for the ubiquitous Don Taylor, who is also involved in Martire and Slaughter Thou; Hodgson and Van den Driesen were also with Deluge and Butt is ex-StarGazer.
A split with Jesus Anal Penetration was released in 2001, after which Van den Driesen left the band. Oni appeared at the Blood Lust festival in 2002 and again in 2003, during which Butt played half a set filling in for Incantation's drummer who had been injured the night before in a car accident. Shortly after this, Taylor decided to quit the band and has since formed Tzun Tzu, a group that follows along similar lines. Hodgson and Butt formed Beyond Mortal Dreams.
