Band Information
Extreme doom comes from this painfully and deliberately obscure Adelaide band whose origins go back to 1993. Membership has shifted between three members and one at various times. Good (of StarGazer) is the founder and principal songwriter, with other contributors at various times having some from Fury guitarist Darren McLennan and Boddasian of Chalice and Esoteric.
The group’s current membership now includes ex-Chalice members Bickle and Hartwig.
While their recorded output has been minimal and mainly restricted to a limited number of demo recordings, Mournful Congregation has received good press worldwide for their sombre, dismal symphonies.
The 2002 full length album is a double CD release featuring remastered demo material and spans over two hours of music. To support the 2009 release, the band played its first ever live show in February 2009, then undertook a short east coast tour with a reformed Misery in March before embarking on an extensive tour in Europe.
