Band information
Truth Corroded is a band from Adelaide with a sound that has slowly evolved from a heavy repetitive hardcore to a violent and aggressive modern metal. Formed in 1996 with the line-up of Shaw, Lennard, Adam Milburn and Si Durrant of In:Extremis; Durrant was shortly replaced with North. The band played several international supports with the likes of Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad and hardcore acts like Sick Of It All and Vision Of Disorder and in January 2000 played at the Adelaide Big Day Out. Since then Truth Corroded has established a strong name for themselves on a national level with both metal and hardcore crowds, having played Metal for the Brain in 2001 as well as appearing at Grounded, Overcranked and the High Voltage showcases in 2002.
Adam Milburn left Truth Corroded in September 2002. He committed suicide at the age of 29 on January 14, 2003.
After a 10-month hiatus, Truth Corroded returned to the live scene in 2003 as a five piece with Corey Grieve and Matt Barnett in the line-up and their style significanly tweaked toward death and thrash metal. A new album was recorded and due for release in early 2005 but Barnett left Truth Corroded in January and the album release was delayed. Barnett was replaced by Chris Canini for a few months but he also subsequently left the band. In July 2005, Barnett returned to Truth Corroded on a temporary basis while the band sought a permanent replacement. He was replaced by Sven Hentschel, who made his live debut with Truth Corroded in early 2006.
The band toured regularly through 2006 and played with Dark Tranquillity and at Metal for the Brain. In early 2007 Truth Corroded played a festival date in Singapore. Shortly after, former Cry Murder drummer Okninski joined the band in place of Hentschel.
Truth Corroded's third album Upon the Warlords Crawl was released in March 2008, showing a final transition from hardcore to metal. In July 2008 Okninski announced he was leaving the band to pursue a career in sport; however this did not eventuate. During October, Truth Corroded toured China and Thailand. A split EP with Double Dragon was released in April 2009 to co-incide with a national tour, the first with Darren McLennan (ex-Fury, Chalice) who replaced Corey Grieve.
The band returned to SE Asia for touring in November. In early 2010 Liam Okninski announced he was leaving Truth Corroded to join the army. He was replaced temporarily by Andrew Parkinson. Truth Corroded began work on a new album in July, with drums played by Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Misery Index et. al) and guitar contributions from Grieve and Jonas Kjellgren from Scar Symmetry. The band then announced Luke Peak (ex-Murder Hill, Cloth Tape, A Red Dawn) as their new drummer. Worship the Bled was released in April 2011. A tour of Australia with experimental French band Hypno5e followed, with Wayne Batters of A Red Dawn and Closed Casket's Chris Walden on guitars as McLennan has since departed and Lennard recovers from carpal tunnel surgery. After the Australian dates, the band went on to play in Japan and SE Asia. Following that Truth Corroded hit Europe in January/February 2012, touring with Krisiun, Malevolent Creation and Vital Remains. In September 2012, the band will support Fear Factory on three shows of their tour.
