Beginning as a continuation of Don Taylor’s former band Oni, Tzun Tzu is an Adelaide death metal unit. Nick Seja from Juggermath and Denny Blake from StarGazer completed the line-up that recorded the Without Zen EP, with Peter O’Donohue (ex-Miscreation) adding samples with an Oriental feel. After this drummer Dan Wild and Adam Ritchie from DEADpool came on board. Kuniochi featured guest taiko drumming from Adrian Bickle of Chalice and Selen Gol from Juggermath. Late that year the group supported Behemoth. The Kunoichi EP was released in May 2008, ahead of a support slot with Dismember. Wild was replaced by Gol around this time and Tzun Tzu went on to open for Carcass, Grave and Krisiun over the next six months while completing a split release with Ignivomous.
