Band Information
Mortality was a thrash and groove metal band from Sydney. The band originated around the core of Darren Maloney, Luke Ford and Darren Jenkins in the early 1990s as a five piece unit. The line-up soon settled down as a quartet with Rick Fuda on drums. A national tour and a support with Sepultura made a string of early demos quite successful. In 1994 Fuda was replaced by Steve Pell and Jenkins by Craig Figl.
Structure appeared in the beginning of 1997, but the long delay in its release affected its impact and only six months later, the band split up due to musical differences between Maloney and the rest of the band. Late in 2004, Mortality had reportedly reformed but nothing further eventuated until early 2006 when Ford, Maloney, Pell and ex-Psi.Kore, Infernal Method and Daysend guitarist Andrew Lilley began rehearsing. They played a single show that August, then disbanded once again.
Mortality reformed in late 2023 as Ford, Maloney, guitarists Aaron Bilbija and Jason Turnbull (ex-Daysend) and drummer Dave Pietersz (Sanctum, Bane of Isildur).
