===Band Information===

Mortality is a death metal band from Sydney whose latter day sound was strongly reminiscent of '''Meshuggah'''. The band originated around the core of Maloney, Ford and Jenkins in the early 1990s as a '''Pantera'''-styled five piece unit until the line-up settled down as a quartet with Rick Fuda on drums.

A national tour and supports with the likes of '''Sepultura''' along with a string of successful demos raised Mortality's profile Australia-wide. Upheavals occurred in 1994 with the replacement of Fuda by former [[Kilswitch]] drummer Pell, and then of Jenkins, who joined [[Cryogenic]] in 1996, by Figl. The band's popularity was maintained however and at the same time Mortality's musical direction developed a death-groove feel with erratic time changes.

The band's long-awaited and much anticipated debut album ''Structure'' finally appeared in the beginning of 1997 and proved to be one of the best local metal albums of the decade, but the long delay in its release affected its impact. Only six months later, the band split up due to musical differences between Maloney and the rest of the band. Maloney joined Cryogenic and the rest formed '''Porn Caddy''', a short-lived rap/metal fusion unit.

Pell later joined his former '''Kilswitch''' colleagues as vocalist with '''You Blabbed About Mars'''. He and Figl later joined alternative band '''Three Point Tilt''' and Ford joined the cyber-industrial rock band '''Many Machines on Nine''' in 2002.

The line-up soon settled down as a quartet with Rick Fuda on drums. A national tour and a support with Sepultura made a string of early demos quite successful. Late in 2004, Mortality had reportedly reformed but nothing further eventuated until early 2006 when Ford, Maloney, Pell and ex-Psi.Kore, Infernal Method and Daysend guitarist Andrew Lilley began rehearsing. They played a single show that August, then disbanded once again.

Mortality reformed in late 2023 as Ford, Maloney, guitarists Aaron Bilbija and Jason Turnbull (ex-Daysend) and drummer Dave Pietersz (Sanctum, Bane of Isildur).
