Overcranked was a Brisbane festival featuring primarily metal and punk bands from Australia and overseas. The event began as a fairly modest local metal/hardcore festival featuring local underground acts but has since become a large scale event featuring prominent Australian and international touring bands, performance art and skateboard demos. In recent years the focus appears to have shifted toward punk and hardcore although metal bands still feature in the line-ups. Overcranked is usually held in late March. The event was not held in 2005 but returned the following year when the headline act was '''Clutch'''. '''Frenzal Rhomb''' was booked for the 2007 event but cancelled. Applications from bands were being taken for the 2008 event but an announcement was later made that the event would not take place until 2009, however it would appear that there are now no plans for the festival to return.
